I am taking Lizzie to Cleveland for a wedding. Traveling is the hardest part of “the diet”. This is a short trip so it should be easy.
When we first started “the diet” we let our kids have French fries and chicken nuggets from Wendy’s. After 6 months we noticed a reaction and limited them to just the nuggets. In January all fast food was totally banned. They just couldn’t handle the cross contamination, soy, and cheep cooking oil. (cottonseed)
Here is the list of the acceptable on the road fare for Job and Lizzie – Outback has a GF menu, Arby’s roast beef only, Sprite or Lemonade – anywhere, and salads without cheese, croutons, or dressing. and Chipotle.
DON’T run for the hills yet! In the beginning “infractions” (eating a non safe food) did not cause a big reaction. Now it does. So, I pack with we need. Lizzie will eat before we leave. I will pack a safe lunch and probably stop at Arby’s to get her roast beef and lemonade.
At my aunt’s house she is going to make safe chocolate cookies. I will bring all the ingredients for those. For dinner they are grilling out. Lizzie will have a hamburger (no bun) with ketchup, mayo, relish and diced onions. (I told you she had an adult palate!)I will also bring a Kahn’s hotdog for her. We are bringing Lay’s chips and she will have a cookie for desert.
My aunt always has beautiful fruit and veggies. I will pack Lizzie some safe ranch for those. We will make eggs for breakfast and I will bring a pumpkin muffin. (I will post about these muffins later – they are the Bomb!) We will have brunch with my grandma (83) and grandpa (97). I can’t wait! I am not sure what I will bring Lizzie for that.
Finally I will cook some safe chicken nuggets and fries to take on the road with us. Daddy will have dinner ready when we get home. It is a lot of work, but a non-moody, non-hyper kid is worth every minute of it!
On the road again
