What’s in a name?

I have been thinking about what to call my kids in this blog. While we were waiting to adopt, the only thing we could do was pick our children’s names. We thought long and hard about that decision. I want to share with you our children’s middle names.

Our first born son’s middle name is Job. My husband thought of that name because our son has 3 grandfathers – John, Owen and Bruce. Job. I loved that Job in the Bible endured much, yet remained faithful to God. We pray that our Job will have a faithful heart.

A funny thing about names, they really do define you. Our son has a heart of gold. He loves the Lord with all his heart. He is kind and gentle and is bothered by injustice. And he has endured much- much more than I wanted him to. He has a challenging life ahead of him. Just a little FYI if you want to name your child Job too.

Our daughter’s middle name is Elizabeth. It is also her birth mother’s and my middle name. Elizabeth is way too formal for our spunky kiddo, so I will call her Lizzie on this blog. Elizabeth means consecrated to God. Our bible verse for our daughter is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Lizzie’s future is bright, but we need to get her there first!
